Another Dismissal of Charges Against Haditha Marine :: Wake up AmericaRead this article on the community site Lance Corporal Stephen Tatum, under charges of involuntary manslaughter, aggravated assault, and reckless endangerment for the deaths of 24 civilians two years ago in Haditha, Iraq, has been cleared of all charges pending his court martial, and will not face trial for the Haditha incident. Currently, there has been no official explanation for the dropping of charges against Tatum, but there is speculation that he may be called to testify in the court martial trial of his squad leader at the time of the incident.
The investigation in the Haditha shootings and bombing are still under investigation, and have been covered extensively here at Wake Up America:

Editorial in Pakistan Right-Wing Urdu Daily Blames U.S., Afghanistan, India for Terrorism in Pakistan In its March 3, 2008 editorial, the Pakistani right-wing Urdu daily accused the U.S. of backing Al-Qaeda and the Taliban, with the aim of destabilizing Pakistan. The publication of the editorial followed a similar statement by Pakistan's acting interior minister, who claimed that the U.S., Afghanistan, and India were behind the recent wave of suicide attacks in his country. [1] The following are excerpts from the editorial: [2] "The U.S. and Afghanistan Are Backing the Organizations that Seek [to Perpetrate] Terrorism and Violence in Pakistan" "[According to Acting Interior Minister Hamid Nawaz], there is a growing [suspicion] that the U.S. and Afghanistan are backing the organizations that seek [to perpetrate] terrorism and violence in Pakistan.... [The] security situation in Afghanistan is improving from day to day, while that of Pakistan is deteriorating... The Indian and Afghan intelligence apparatuses [are] likewise involved in terrorism in Pakistan. "[In the wake of the 9/11 attacks], the U.S. created situations in Pakistan which exposed the terrible face hidden [behind its mask of] friendship. It should have praised and helped Pakistan for the role it played [in the war] on terror. Instead, [the Americans] are trying to destabilize Pakistan [in order to promote] their own interests. "The U.S.'s past [history] indicates that, [in its dealings with other countries], it initially extends its hand in friendship. However, once its objectives are achieved, it not only leaves its [ally] country to fend for itself, but also keeps interfering in its domestic affairs, so that its independence is reduced to a sham. Afghanistan and Iraq are recent examples of [this] American aggression and lust for power." "The Americans Lit the Candle of Democracy on Human Skulls in Iraq and Afghanistan" "The Americans lit the candle of democracy on human skulls in Iraq and Afghanistan. Its flames also crept towards Pakistan, and the nation has been burning in these flames for several years now. The series of suicide attacks [in Pakistan] indicates the existence of a force that is trying to achieve its objectives by destabilizing [the country]... "The Pakistani nation and government are not so oblivious of what is happening around them that they cannot confront the challenge of the enemy's conspiracy. It is as plain as day that no Pakistani group, nor the 'local Taliban,' [can possibly be] behind these terrorist operations and suicide attacks - because no Muslim could even think about taking such a step, let alone commit such horrible acts, and stain his hands with the blood of innocent Muslims who were praying to Allah in the mosques... "Therefore, every member of our nation now realizes that Pakistan's enemies are pursuing a premeditated plan aimed at destabilizing [the country]. This is why the U.S. is so clearly interfering even in [Pakistan's internal] politics. The U.S. has been defeated by the Taliban in Afghanistan, and in order to convert its defeat into victory, it is pushing Pakistan onto the battlefield... "The U.S. is [therefore] determined to bring to power individuals who will obey its orders and turn Pakistan into a battlefield. The statements of U.S. Secretary of State [Condoleezza Rice] indicate that the Americans are finding the recent political changes in Pakistan difficult to swallow. They still hope that the new government will promote their interests and put national security on the back burner..." We Must Abandon the U.S.-Led War on Terror "There have already been whispers that America [must be] involved in terrorist operations in Pakistan. However, this is the first time that a government official [namely Acting Interior Minister Hamid Nawaz] has acknowledged not only U.S. involvement, but also [the involvement] of Afghanistan's and India's intelligence agencies... A number of Indian consulates are operating along these lines in Afghanistan; they are responsible for the deteriorating situation in Baluchistan and in the North West Frontier Province. While trying to weaken Pakistan internally, India [continues] to hold fruitless talks with Pakistan on the Kashmiri issue, with the blessing of the U.S. "In light of all this, the government should not only change its policies. It should also present the ambassadors of these countries with evidence of their interference in its internal affairs, and tell them that [this interference] will not be tolerated. "What we need to do is to abandon the U.S.-led war on terror, whose only goal is to serve American interests, and to begin peace talks with the local [Taliban] groups. The U.S. must be told that A-Qaeda and the Taliban are based in Afghanistan, and that the war should therefore be fought over there, not in Pakistan..." [1] www.dailytimes.com.pk, March 16, 2008.

I am also publishing this new article to show what has happened to LiveLeak for their stand to refuse to censor the Fitna films release. From LiveLeak:
I left the original LiveLeak embed on the previous piece because when it is clicked, the message above is what comes onto the screen instead of the movie. Once something is released on the Internet, the genie cannot be put back into the bottle though.... sooo, here is FITNA still live from YouTube.... for now anyway. (You may have to click the confirm age button, certain YouTube versions require it.) It can also be embedded from Daily Motion here. They may have threatened LiveLeak into surrendering to protect their staff, but they cannot threaten us all, so we will continue to make this available in the name of free speech. LiveLeak did a wonderful job of getting it out there...their job is done, now the rest of us must take up the free speech battle. Geert Wilders' site is up and running and he too is showing his film. By showing this film we are taking a stand for free speech and are refusing to be intimidated by those that would violently threaten people for exercising their right to free speech simply because it may offend some. The movie has transcended its original intention. It has morphed into THE vehicle that brings the separation in ideology, values and behaviors that this world is faced with today into clear distinction. It is time! We believe in freedom of speech-they do not. We believe in the ability of humans to discuss serious topics that often are shrouded in emotion without fear of retribution if your opponent disagrees with you. Fitna is also about freedom-our enemy has threatened the original host with personal injury and death. Live leaks in a move to "protect" its people chose to take down the movie from its site. Will Israel miss this opportunity to miss an opportunity? :: JewschoolRead this article on the community site Please tell me yes! It may well have been true in the past that the Arab nations missed opportunities for peace with Israel, but now the ball is more and more in Israel's court. How does the oft-parroted line about Israel being the beleaguered peace seeker amidst the Arab warmongers survive since the Arab League in 2002 offered Israel full recognition throughout its 22 member states in exchange for a peace settlement? The offer was renewed yesterday by a re-ratification of the Arab League's assembly of foreign ministers. This preceded an offer of a ceasefire by Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal. With Gazans demonstrating for continued armed conflict, this sounds like a stupid thing to turn down. But I shouldn't be eager to condemn any side for perceived intransigence because Gerson Baskin and Hanna Siniora, co-directors of the Israel-Palestine Center for Research and Information have been traveling the country touting their middleman position in not-so-secret negotiations between Israel and Hamas for the return of Gilad Shalit, for a Hamas-Israel one-year ceasefire, and between Israel and the PLO for a final settlement. Read it in JPost. What lacks on both sides, the two say, is political chutzpah. And it's almost certainly true, despite whether they're really said shuttle pigeons. Either way, the mantra that the Arabs resist peace at every turn should be shucked by the wayside. It's just as incumbent on Israel to not blow these opportunities — and on Americans to do our part too. From the Baghdad Boys, the four congressmen, whose trip to Iraq was coordinated by and paid through Al-Hannoti by Saddam, to Hillary Clinton to the entire US Attorney's office in the Eastern District of Michigan having to recuse itself from the case, the Hannoti case seems likely to become the Abscam of those politicians who have continued to host and deal with terrorists. The world meanwhile continues to heat up. Muhammad's mindset, and the actions it engendered, had immediate, and long term tragic consequences for Jews—from his massacring up to 24,000 Jews, to their chronic oppression—as described in the Islamic sources, by Muslims themselves:Following an apparently prevalent usage [Maimonides] calls the founder of Islam a "madman," [meshugga] with both religious and political aspirations, who failed to formulate any new religious ideas, but merely re-stated well-known concepts. Nevertheless, he attracted a large following and inflicted many wrongs upon the Jews, being himself responsible for the massacre of 24,000. Following his example the Muslims of the subsequent generations oppressed the Jews and debased them even more harshly than any other nation. From IsraPundit meanwhile at excellent article by Eliav Bar Hai, 1945 to 2008: A Lesson From DresdenExistential wars have only military solutions.Sixty-three years ago, the Allied air forces bombed the German city of Dresden into oblivion, accelerating the final defeat of the Nazi regime and bringing a rapid end to the Second World War just four months later. Today's Islamofascist Jihad is gaining ground against the non-Islamic world and the Islamists are on the threshold of obtaining nuclear weapons. The failure of the West, including the USA, Europe and Israel, to recognize and deal seriously with this existential threat could have catastrophic ramifications for the future of mankind. It is therefore educationally imperative to review the concluding events of World War II and thus gain a better perspective of how fascist national cults have been successfully dealt with in the past...Second, the Allies in World War II ultimately realized - in contrast to another modern mantra: "There is no military solution - only a political solution" - that existential wars have only military solutions, which dictate the political reshuffling that follows. In the wake of the "political solutions" early on in Hitler's methodical push to take over Europe, which strengthened Germany with Austria, the Sudetenland and Czechoslavakia, and Japan with southeast Asia, the Allies belatedly focused on military victory...Via Always on Watch, an excellent Robert Spencer article on how to end Islamophobia. 1. It has been replacing those values with falsehoods and lies shored up by nonsense and irrational thinking. ( I am more inclined to believe that such men wish not to lead but to dismantle from within)Barack Husseins mother left him with her parents to pursue her career in anthropology. His father was also gone and his step father far away and seemingly uninvolved. His early training in madrassa school was in a religion that is one that is virulently intolerant and skewed badly in rational thought. Each of the parents was unusual and rebellious. It is no wonder that Barack has no problem in accepting the outrageous Pastor Wright as a 'father figure'. Barack's mother believed that marriage and family are "not particularly essential or important" and it shows today in his choices and beliefs as it showed in her own choices. Lack of family values fuels hatred and a sense of entitlement. The narrator is Powers Boothe. It is believed that this ad is targeted against Barack Obama, understanding that Obama is favored to become the Democratic nominee. McCain is already drawing comparisons between himself and Obama which can be seen clearly in the reference to walking the walk. While the Democratic contenders are still battling it out with each other, sniping, fighting and generally tearing each other to shreds, John McCain is giving us a sneak preview at the campaign strategy that will be used during the general election. Perhaps even given the idea from Hillary Clinton's own words when she said, "I think that I have a lifetime of experience that I will bring to the White House. I know Senator McCain has a lifetime of experience that he will bring to the White House and Senator Obama has a speech he gave in 2002." She was highly criticized for that when she said it, and John McCain is smart to use that same theme because during the general election, if Obama does win the Democratic nod, then McCain will not be the only one pointing out Obama's lack of experience because there are soundbites, news reports and video of Hillary Clinton making the very same argument. Clinton will not be able to take those words back and it will be very powerful in the general election to see McCain and Hillary, (via the video clip) arguing that Barack Obama, hasn't walked the walk and doesn't have the lifetime experience that John McCain does. A very good, powerful ad and we can expect to see Obama/Clinton supporters talking about it shortly......5....4.....3....2....1 [Update] It starts. . Fitna :: Elder of ZiyonRead this article on the community site The release of the Dutch film Fitna has provoked much reaction in the blogosphere, and not a huge amount yet worldwide. If you haven't been following the story, Wikipedia describes it like this: Fitna is a film by Dutch politician Geert Wilders, leader of the Party for Freedom (PVV) in the Dutch parliament. The movie offers his views on Islam and the Qur'an. The film's title comes from the Arabic word fitna which is used to describe "disagreement and division among people", or a "test of faith in times of trial". The movie was released to the Internet on 27 March 2008. It was originally hosted on a video streaming site LiveLeak, but today LiveLeak removed the video in the face of very real death threats. Here is a copy from Google Video, which may or may not stay up: There are two issues to be dealt with here, and it is important not to mix them up. One is the message of the film, and the other is the entire idea of censoring media that offends a group of people. The message seems to be that Islam is inherently evil, as Wilders takes Quranic verses and juxtaposes them with images of terror and hate speech by Muslim clerics. While there is plenty to criticize about Islam and how it is practiced by many today, this is a bit oversimplistic and smacks more of propaganda than a documentary. A much better example, in my opinion, was Obsession, a 12-minute version is here: To judge Fitna as objectively more offensive than any number of rabidly anti-semitic videos that are allowed on YouTube is absurd, however. The fact that it is being censored is more troubling than any perceived offense it is guilty of, and really, it does not show anything more than Jihadi videos already do. A possible Freudian slip by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon illustrates the problem well: "I condemn in the strongest terms the airing of Geert Wilders' offensively anti-Islamic film," Ban said in a statement. "There is no justification for hate speech or incitement to violence. The right of free speech is not at stake here." Normally, when one says that something is an incitement to violence, it means that the people watching it would be moved to act violently against the players portrayed in the medium. In this case, though, the only people being incited to violence are the very violent people the film is about, not the viewers. Moon is, perhaps subconsciously, saying that the reason he is against the film is because it can cause Muslims to riot and kill. Ban is effectively giving Muslims veto power over any medium that they deem offensive - he is advocating censorship. Despite his protests, the right of free speech is exactly what is at stake here. Whether he meant it or not, the vehemence of his reaction is way out of proportion to the objective amount of offensiveness that this video contains. It is well within the bounds of any reasonable definition of free speech and it does not come close to hate speech or incitement to violence, unlike any number of anti-semitic sermons that can be seen broadcast weekly on Islamist TV stations, like this recent example. The only way to fight this obscene censorship - even if you disagree with the film's message, as many sober people do - is to make sure that it is uploaded and available to everyone who wants to find it, on video sharing sites large and small. It may be a tempest in a teapot but the symbolism of the Islamists managing to shut it down portends much worse things to come. • Email to a friend • Related • Second, more explosive film on Islam coming :: Israel MatzavRead this article on the community site A Dutch news service is reporting that amidst all the outrage over FITNA, which was released last night, a second, more explosive video is due out on April 20. A number of months ago, several RBS residents reached out to Rabbi Yakov Horowitz (Rosh Yeshiva of Darchei Noam in Monsey and head of Project Y.E.S. of Agudas Yisrael) for guidance regarding the violence perpetrated by the kannoim of Bet Shemesh after Rav Horowitz bravely wrote several columns condemning the violence in the strongest terms here and here.
Rabbi Horowitz said that anybody who is violently forcing his chumrohs on others, and especially those who are physically assaulting women are prime candidates for being sexual predators, pedophiles and wife beaters. He repeatedly told us that over the course of time, it will become evident to all that a disproportionately high percentage of these thugs are not only abusing the women on the buses, but are committing far worse on those close to them. He said that, in his view, these people have a distorted and perverse obsession with women and sexual matters, as opposed to, lehavdil, true tzadikim, whose minds are preoccupied with torah and avodah. Tzadikim and true Chassidim make chumros – on themselves. And never resort to violence on others. Yesterday, I spoke with Rabbi Horowitz about the subject and he pointed me to the sefer Kav Ha'Yashar chapter 52. The sefer says, I will summarize it briefly, that "A person who busies himself all day with davening with kavanah, and he walks with his tefillin all day long (an unusual behavior – a super-frum chumrah, as men typically remove their tefilin before leaving shul) - it looks like this person is very pious. You think that he must be a kosher and straight person who deals constantly with the holy work of heaven. But you do not really know what is in his heart. As Shlomo HaMelech wrote (in Koheles) - don't be too righteous or too evil, and Chazal said be wary of the "tzvu'im" (hypocrites) - they look like prushim (people who separate themselves from materialism), but they act like zimri, and then they request reward like Pinchas.
